Launchpad...leaving?

With the premiere of Let’s Get Dangerous! fast approaching, a possible development has occurred to me. It seems entirely possible that, as a result of the episode(s), Launchpad will leave Scrooge’s employ to become Drake Mallard/Darkwing Duck’s crime-fighting teammate. He will also be helping to take care of Gosalyn, who seems likely to become DW’s sidekick/adopted daughter. As both tasks will require relocating to St. Canard, it seems likely that Launchpad could cease to be a DuckTales series regular.

Now, I imagine that Launchpad won’t be ditching the Duck family-if nothing else, he and the rest of Team Darkwing will undoubtedly take part in the final battle(s) against F.O.W.L. However, I think it possible and even likely that LP will no longer be living in Duckburg. Of course, Della is willing and able to take over as Scrooge’s pilot, as she was before Launchpad took the job. However, one must wonder where Scrooge will find a new chauffeur...

@Pyrotechnixx why would that suggest an alternate universe? Presumably since we last saw her in The Richest Duck in the World!, Owlson entered and won the mayoral election in St. Canard, having ditched both McDuck Enterprises and Glomgold Industries. Whoever replaced her in Scrooge’s company-since she said she’d train someone-hasn’t been touched upon because this season’s arcs have moved away from the whole corporate rivalry thing.

@Pyrotechnixx Drake Mallard was cast as the lead on a big budget film. Assuming that wasn’t his first/only role, he may have had quite a bit of money saved up to spend on crime-fighting gear. He may also have been able to get ahold of a number of props from the aborted movie he was set to star in. Scrooge shut down the movie and possibly the film studio, so he probably wouldn’t have balked at selling various things to Drake. If nothing else, as was once pointed out to me, it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to modify an existing motorcycle into an updated Ratcatcher if you have the money for a motorcycle in the first place.

Besides which, the “Let’s Get Dangerous” promo from earlier today notes that St. Canard’s crime rate has gone way down since their new mayor was elected.

Spoilers for Let's Get Dangerous below. Skip this post if you haven't seen the episode yet:

Apparently, Launchpad is going to remain with the McDuck family during the day, but go to St. Canard and hang out with Darkwing and Gosalyn at night. That way, he splits his time evenly among his two families.

@MrSix2005 yeah, just caught the episode. Don't really see how that's going to work, but I guess the creators aren't quite ready to relocate Launchpad to St. Canard full-time.

It depends on if a Darkwing Duck spin-off is green-lit.

But he could be a character on both shows.

Whether it will be tied to DuckTales 2017 is another matter.
