@Tom Brahms The reason money would be essential to this plot is because otherwise most of the people mentioned above wouldn't enter. Besides, Goldie's always in it for the money.

I only think if money is the only reason why they enter the pageant would be meaningless, although Goldie is. I bet Goldie have no way to win the pageant but to cheat because I don't think she has any quality to become a Daisy-like beauty, then once any of her tricks got discovered, she'll be disqualified just like Magica (and also Ma Beagle if she enters the pageant too) would too.
