B.O.Y.D.(Be Only Yourself, Dude), formerly known as 2-BO and B.O.Y.D.(Beaks Optimistic Youth Droid), is a kid-like-robot first introduced in the DuckTales 2017 Season 2 episode "Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake!"
Physical Appearance[]
B.O.Y.D. is a small grey parrot robot with yellow sclerae and black irises, which would later become blue after being fixed in [[Astro B.O.Y.D.!]]. He has a patch of a lighter grey surrounding his eyes, and his beak and feet share the same dark grey coloring. B.O.Y.D.'s outfit consists of a light-yellow button-up t-shirt, a red bow tie, and darker yellow shorts.
History[]
Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake![]
Mark Beaks repurposed B.O.Y.D. in anticipation of a birthday party for Doofus Drake to which he had been invited, with the stipulation that guests had to bring children with them. B.O.Y.D. seems to have come online the day before the party, with Beaks taking him on a series of outings that day and taking photos in preparation for proving the robot to be his son.
Following the reveal that he was a robot, B.O.Y.D had something of a malfunction, falling into the pool and for a while remaining there. During Louie's eventual return to the party to rescue Goldie from her captor, the robot boy is reprogrammed by Louie using Mark Beaks' remote control to become Doofus Drake's new (former) adoptive brother. He was immediately taken in lovingly by Doofus' parents, and upon the latter's threat to disown his parents from the money he provided because of what they were doing that he disagreed on, B.O.Y.D took control of half the funds and claimed himself the second grandson to Doofus' grandmother. He was the former adoptive brother of Doofus Drake and younger son to his parents.
Moonvasion![]
B.O.Y.D. is captured by the Moonlanders and tied up in one of the household kitchens alongside Doofus and their parents (though he isn't handcuffed unlike Doofus and his parents). Nevertheless, they are implied to have later been released, or B.O.Y.D. may have escaped the capture at some point.
Astro B.O.Y.D.![]
B.O.Y.D. meets Huey at a Junior Woodchuck camping trip, where the two form a new bond, but B.O.Y.D. starts to malfunction when Huey's words accidentally reawaken lost memories. Huey takes B.O.Y.D. to Gyro Gearloose's lab, where it is revealed that Gyro helped to build B.O.Y.D. (initially named "2BO") as an intern to Dr. Akita. Gyro, B.O.Y.D., Huey, and Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera depart for Tokyolk to fix him.
In Tokyolk, Gyro attempts to fix B.O.Y.D. but is distracted when Lil Bulb short-circuits. Fenton and Huey take B.O.Y.D. into the city to prove he can be a hero. When the kids get separated from Fenton, they decide to explore the city and see the sights. However, when they convene with Fenton, Gyro, and Inspector Tezuka, it is revealed that during B.O.Y.D.'s test run, he lost control and destroyed the city. Huey fights with Gyro over the latter's desire to destroy B.O.Y.D., but he is summoned to Akita, who activates a "revenge protocol." As B.O.Y.D. fights Gizmoduck under this protocol, it is discovered that Akita deliberately engineered B.O.Y.D.'s initial rampage, finally making Gyro realize his son wasn't evil after all. After Gyro and Lil Bulb fight off Akita, Gyro subdues B.O.Y.D. by admitting he's a "definitely real boy", with the father and sun hugging each other in a heart-warming moment.
Huey and B.O.Y.D. reunite and the two best friends hug each other, now with B.O.Y.D. returning to normal with blue eyes. Huey suggests he choose his own name and he chooses to stick with B.O.Y.D., but revises his acronym to "Be Only Yourself Dude." After that, Huey is seen riding on his best friend B.O.Y.D. on their way back to Duckberg.
How Santa Stole Christmas![]
Though B.O.Y.D. doesn't appear in person, his name appears on a circuit-board style stocking that hangs under the portrait of Gummeemama next to Doofus's. Webby stuffs his stocking with a gift presumed to be from Santa Claus when his sleigh stops by the Drakes' home.
The Last Adventure![]
B.O.Y.D. is seen attending Webby's birthday party with his biological father Gyro Gearloose and brother Lil Bulb, sitting on Manny's shoulder. Later, B.O.Y.D. forms a friend group with Louie, Dewey, Lena, Violet and Gosalyn, who all board the Sunchaser with the adults, with B.O.Y.D. stating his reason in going was to rescue his best friend Huey, who had been taken aboard the Iron Vulture with Webby, May and June. When everyone is saved, B.O.Y.D. is seen flying with Dr. Gearloose and Lil Bulb in the end credits as they head back home, suggesting left Doofus' family and moved back in with his biological family.

- It is revealed in "Challenge of the Senior Junior Woodchucks!" that he is a member of the Junior Woodchucks, along with Doofus Drake.
- After the events of Astro B.O.Y.D.!, B.O.Y.D. now means a new acronym and he decided to change the color of his eyes.
- B.O.Y.D. is the first robotic child to be created and the first robot made that didn't become a villain in any way, created by a villain yet to become a hero.
- B.O.Y.D. could be inspired by the famous Disney character Pinocchio, who wants to be a real boy, or Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, who at first thought that he was a real boy and has weapons built into him.
- B.O.Y.D.'s former name, 2-BO, is a reference to Dr. Tenma's deceased son Tobio, on whom Astro is based, from Astro Boy.
- B.O.Y.D's uncontrollable laser eyes is a reference to Cyclops from X-Men which Dr. Gearloose even put the Red Glasses to make him prevent further damages to the Lab in Astro B.O.Y.D.!
- B.O.Y.D. has had two voice actors instead of just one, unlike most other characters in the series.
- It is possible after the events The Last Adventure! B.O.Y.D. moved back in with his biological father Dr. Gearloose and his biological brother Lil Bulb, as in the ending of said episode, he is seen flying with his father and brother while freefalling in the credits, while also possibly leaving Doofus' family (who were absent in said episode).
