“ | I'm a former agent and a grandmother. I know how to weaponize guilt. | ” |
– Ms. Beakley |
Bentina Beakley, usually called Mrs. Beakley, is a big-boned anthropomorphic duck and one of the nine protagonists of DuckTales 2017.
Description[]
Mrs. Beakley is Webby's foster grandmother and Scrooge's no-nonsense housekeeper, bodyguard, and closest confidant. Beakley has a mysterious past and a particular set of skills that go beyond vacuuming and washing windows. She is trained in every martial art. Although she often calls Scrooge out, she's the only person he really trusts.
Personality[]
Beakley is a fierce and fearless housekeeper who is very orderly when keeping the mansion clean, organized and safe. She takes this very seriously as in the episode "Daytrip of Doom!" She was very protective over Webby, but after the events in "Woo-oo!" she allows her to go on adventures with Scrooge, Donald, Launchpad, and the nephews. Mrs. Beakley has a rather dry and sarcastic wit and impressive physical feats. She oftentimes takes safety as the first priority in cautious situations, like in "The Last Crash of the Sunchaser!", when she continuously attempted to convince Scrooge about the safety options during their predicament, even though Scrooge's arrogance rejected all the options nevertheless.

Relationships[]
Scrooge McDuck[]
Mrs. Beakley is Scrooge's no-nonsense housekeeper, bodyguard, and closest confidant. She takes her job seriously and professionally yet, as his employee, she is very honest and straight-forward, though is still polite and respectful, and looks out for him and his well being. She and Scrooge also used to be partners while Beakley was working under the S.H.U.S.H. organization. Their first mission together was when they attempted to stop a spy working under F.O.W.L., known as Black Heron, from creating an ancient potion enhancing the abilities to make super soldiers.
Webby Vanderquack[]
Webby is Beakley's foster granddaughter, whom she raised in the mansion for decades. They are very close, so much so that Webby knows her secret of being a retired spy of S.H.U.S.H. Beakley has trained her in espionage, martial arts, and more to protect herself, but barely giving her the opportunity as she had kept Webby sheltered inside of the mansion. Yet at the end of "Woo-oo!" Beakley allows Webby to continue to go on adventures with Scrooge, letting her see the world and make new friends, although she has shown to be suspicious of the people Webby meets. She believed Lena wasn't trustworthy, until Lena saved her; Beakley learns to trust that there's good in her, although in the episode "The Lost Harp of Mervana!" a magic truth-telling harp reveals that Beakley lied to Webby, who in her frustration states that no one is trustworthy. However, Louie convinces Webby that people can still be trusted, and Webby and her grandmother reconcile. She promises that there will no longer be secrets between them, but the harp indicates that she is not telling the truth. During "The Last Adventure!", it is revealed that Mrs. Beakley found Webby at a F.O.W.L. base and took custody of her to prevent Webby from being used for evil.
Donald Duck[]
Donald Duck first met Mrs. Beakley at the end of "Woo-oo!" when Beakley talked to her granddaughter Webby and allowed her to continue to go on adventures with Scrooge. Donald, who watched this, then gave his nephews permission to continue to go on adventures with Scrooge. In "Daytrip of Doom!", Donald and Beakley got into a fight over house rules. Later, Beakley got onto Donald about breaking fire laws, and using up the water bill, causing Donald to order multiple generators for his boat, and Beakley to remark, "That idiot is going to kill himself," and afterward jokingly laugh. Beakley watched Donald set his boat on fire, and the whole time just sipped her tea. Their first time working together wasn't until Donald showed her the ransom note that the Beagle Boys had tossed at him. They both go out to save their children, and when encountering the Beagle Boys, Donald unleashes his anger and strength to fight. Beakley respects Donald's fighting spirit in his parenting and protection of the kids, and they later become better friend because of the experience.
Della Duck[]
In "The Shadow War!", Beakley revealed that the loss of Della was the hardest blow to Scrooge, and he locked himself away from everyone else. Seeing Beakley after so long in "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!", Della recognized her as Agent 22 before she succeeded Duckworth. Beakley cleaned up after Della's attempted shield-surfing stunt with her sons, reminding her she is used to cleaning up after children. Beakley is worried that Della is having difficulty adjusting to the family's current way of life, until Della saves the family from the rampaging Gilded Man. She doubts her as a responsible parent in "Timephoon!", and Beakley begins to teach Della humility and assertiveness during an intense storm. Della realizes too late that Beakly was right, and gives tough love to her children.
Launchpad McQuack[]
Beakley and Launchpad are work acquaintances, employees for the adventurous zillionaire Scrooge McDuck. They weren't that close but they were friendly towards one another. When Webby pointed out that Beakley doesn't have friends in the episode "Friendship Hates Magic!", Beakley than started to reach out to Launchpad in becoming friends. She thinks of Launchpad as a "man-child" in "Terror of the Terra-firmians!" When Launchpad shares his favorite series, Darkwing Duck, Beakley learns to like it, becoming a fan to the show and a friend to Launchpad.
