While it was still in construction druids cursed it, and when Silas' family, the Clan McDuck, settled in it, they were forced to leave by the ghastly Hound of Castle McDuck.
Silas spend what little money he had left to build the nearby Cottage McDuck, which remained the Clans home untik Scrooge's childhood. When the adult Scrooge arrive to reclaim the castle, he is eventually able to make peace with the druids, and turns the castle into a tourist destination.
