Evon Freeman is an American writer, storyboard artist, prop designer, and background designer known for her work on Monsters vs. Aliens, The Legend of Korra, and the video game Skullgirls. She is a storyboard artist on Ducktales (2017)..
Early life[]
Freeman spent a lot of time in Taiwan as a child. Unable to play outside due to the extremely humid summers, she started drawing via how-to-draw books. In high school, Freeman took many art classes including pottery, photography, art, and computer graphics. She went on to study graphic design and multimedia at California State University, East Bay, graduating with a B.A. in 2004.
After landing a job at Electronic Arts, she applied for the visual development program at the Academy of Art University, eventually earning her Master's degree in 2D animation in 2010. Freeman has also been taking storyboarding classes at the Concept Design Academy.
Career[]
In 2012, Freeman provided background and environment art for the Reverge Labs video game Skullgirls. In 2013, she was a background/prop designer and cleanup artist on The Legend of Korra and Monsters vs. Aliens for Nickelodeon. She was also the character designer and storyboard artist for the Legend of Korra web series Republic City Hustle, for which Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra co-creator Bryan Konietzko personally chose her.
