Fritter O'Way is a minor DuckTales 1987 character appearing as the main antagonist of the episode "Down & Out in Duckburg".

History[]

Fritter O'Way comes busting into McDuck Manor and pushes Scrooge McDuck out of his chair. Fritter shows a contract signed by Scrooge's ancestor Seafoam McDuck. Fritter's ancestor Diddle O'Way charged Seafoam with delivering a barrel of marbles to the Cape of No Hope, but the ship delivering the marbles was caught in a storm and sank beneath the waves. Because of the delivery disaster, Seafoam was held accountable for Diddle and owed all his possessions. Seafoam's possessions were lost at sea, except for a gold watch. When Diddle tried to grab the watch, Seafoam got away, while Diddle was knocked off the dock by a load of cargo.

Fritter tells Scrooge that he is responsible for Seafoam's debt, as he is Seafoam's only surviving relative, and demands the gold watch, but Scrooge used it to acquire land in Klondike, where he made his fortune.

Rather than throwing everyone out, Fritter has everyone in the mansion work for him. He spends money left and right, redecorating the mansion, and when Scrooge objects, Fritter sends him away.

Fritter later hears on the radio that Scrooge has been reported lost at sea by the Cape of No Hope. Fritter is overjoyed at first, but soon realizes that Scrooge was after the marbles, and decides to make sure he remains lost. Fritter shows up by Scrooge's redecorated yacht with shotgun in hand, mocking his foe, when a wave sweeps him off the deck. Scrooge suggests that Fritter float on the barrel of marbles retrieved from Seafoam's sunken vessel, and Fritter finally gives in. Before being hauled on board, Fritter is forced to sign the money back to Scrooge.

Scrooge has given Fritter the job of scraping the orange paint off of the mansion.
