Glittering Goldie is the longtime love interest of Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales 1987.
History[]
Goldie is introduced in the episode "Back to the Klondike", an adaptation of the Carl Barks comic story of the same name. Scrooge recalls meeting her during the Klondike Gold Rush, when they were both young and Goldie worked as a dancer and singer at a saloon.
Much like Scrooge, Goldie is a driven, independent, hard-working person who favours gold. As well as being beautiful she's also very tough, and knows how to defend herself. Scrooge soon finds out that she is both manipulative and intelligent.
When Goldie swindles Scrooge out of a gold nugget, he threatens to call the authorities if she doesn't pay him back. Rather then getting into trouble, she reluctantly agrees to work to pay back the nugget. While working together, the two of them fall in love.
Years later, she is still living in Klondike, now with her claim guarded by a wild bear, Blackjack, trained by her to attack "prowlers". She once again meet Scrooge and is also introduced to Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Following her debut episode, Goldie later reappears in "Scroogerello", as a figment of Scrooge's feverish dream; "Till Nephews Do Us Part", where she emerges from the wedding cake to punish Scrooge for trying to marry Millionara Vanderbucks; and "Ducky Mountain High", where Scrooge and Flintheart Glomgold fight for a property owned by Goldie. Additionally, images of her can be seen in "Scrooge's Pet" and "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. McDuck".

Trivia[]
- When Carl Barks created Goldie for the 1952 comic book story "Back to the Klondike", he drew inspiration from "Klondike Kate" Rockwell.
- In the 1990s, for "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck", Don Rosa established Goldie's full name as "Goldie O'Gilt". DuckTales 2017 has followed suit, but when the original series was produced, Goldie had no family name.
