Harpies are minor DuckTales 1987 characters appearing in the episode "The Golden Fleecing".

History[]

Headed by Agnes the Harpy, the harpies are the guards of the Golden Fleece, which Scrooge McDuck has desired since childhood. They capture Launchpad and feed him to fatten him up to feed him to the Sleepless Dragon that protects the Fleece.

When they are about to feed Launchpad to the Dragon, they notice Scrooge stealing the Fleece and try to take it back, but Scrooge decides Launchpad is more important and covers the dragon's eyes with the fleece and causes him to feel asleep. The harpies thank Scrooge that the dragon is finally asleep after thousands of years.

When the ducks return home, one of the Harpies, Anastasia, has fallen in love with Launchpad and follows him back to Duckburg, hoping to marry him.

Trivia[]

When originally appearing in Carl Barks' comic book story "The Golden Fleecing", the harpies were called "larkies". Their names were Agnes, Bessie, Fay and Inez.
