Horror in the Highlands! is a DuckTales 2017 comic book story.

Synopsis[]

Scrooge shows Mayor McGoslin around a holographic version of his next planned project: a Scottish heritage museum to be built in his old home town. However, the Mayor denies Scrooge's proposal, informing him that there is no evidence that Scrooge is in fact a member of Clan McDuck. Scrooge is disheartened, but after getting some encouragement from Webby decides to head to Scotland to find prove of his bloodlines. Joined by Huey and Launchpad, they soon set down in the town where Scrooge intends to build the museum. As it happens, the town is currently in the middle of Highland Games, and the townsfolk are none too pleased by the presence of "fake" Scotsman Scrooge.

However, before the mob can lay hands on him and his companions, a monster emerges from the nearby loch and begins attacking. Scrooge and his family quickly lead a counterattack, leading the locals in defeating the beast using various Highland Games implements. The monster proves to be a machine piloted by Flintheart Glomgold, who proves to be behind erasing records of Scrooge's history. Flintheart, in his usual habit of making cheap imitations, intended to use the town as the site for his "Scotlandland" theme park. Scrooge's heroics impress the townspeople, and Webby manages to find his old school records, proving his heritage.

Trivia[]

A villager's comment that Scrooge "sounds like some actor from TV! Like he plays a doctor or a detective or something!" is a reference to Scrooge's voice actor David Tennant and his roles in Doctor Who and Broadchurch, respectively.
Despite not appearing in the story, both Louie and Dewey are featured on the cover.
