The Klondike is a region in Yukon, Canada, east to the border of Alaska. It is famous for the Klondike Gold Rush, which took place between 1897 and 1899.
The Klondike Gold Rush plays an important part of Scrooge McDuck's backstory in both the 1987 and the 2017 continuity, as it was when he started making his fortune and when he met his love interest Glittering Goldie. Scrooge returns to the Klondike at an old age in both continuities.
