Beaks Out!

–Mark Beaks

Marcus "Mark" Beaks is a recurring antagonist in DuckTales 2017.

Background[]

Beaks is a tech industry CEO who cares more about popularity and status than money. He is the founder and CEO of his own company, Waddle. He is focused on being buzz-worthy and how many followers he has.

Mark Beaks interrupts a staring contest between Scrooge and Glomgold. Huey and Dewey acquaint themselves with him and are eager to work for his company, Waddle.

History[]

Main article: Mark Beaks/Biography

Personality[]

As the founder of Waddle, Mark Beaks puts up a laid-back, fun-loving and technologically adept public persona. However, beneath this collected, suave exterior is Mark's true nature: a self-absorbed, superficial con man. Rarely thinking ahead, Beaks largely coasts by on luck and social media buzz, and it's rare he puts actual effort or thought into doing anything- he'll disregard or simply not listen to others' instructions, and he tends to put more work into flimflamming people than into his actual job as CEO of Waddle.

Unlike his rival billionaires, Scrooge McDuck and Flintheart Glomgold, Beaks's preferred currency is social media fame; the man is rarely separated from his smartphone and will take selfies and make posts even in the middle of crisis situations. "Louie's Eleven!" implies that much of Beaks's craving for popularity comes from a poor relationship with his mother Emma Glamour, whose relentless critique of everything around her even extends to her son, and with his father, a sports coach who criticized Mark's lack of athleticism growing up.

While he paints himself as inventive and tech-savvy, many of Beaks's own inventions are poorly thought out or simply con jobs (such as "Project Tadah", which turned out to be him hyping up absolutely nothing). Most of the inventions Beaks makes public are actually plagiarized from other creators.

Due to his self-obsessed personality, Mark lacks compassion for other people, and he is fond of gloating when he thinks he has the edge over his adversaries. He expresses a sense of entitlement to things he wants, and he's averse to being physically affectionate with others- when B.O.Y.D. tries to hug him in a flashback in "Astro B.O.Y.D.!", he recoils with disgust and expresses that he doesn't like being touched.

Despite his laziness, Beaks also displays neurotic, perfectionistic personality traits, and he rapidly comes unglued when things don't go exactly the way he wants them to. He goes into an obsessive funk when denied access to Gizmoduck, and when Dewey brings him coffee one minute too early in "The Infernal Internship of Mark Beaks!", Mark starts to go on an angry tirade about order before Huey arrives with a second coffee at the correct time.

Appearance[]

He is an African grey parrot that is quite slim and feet of two talons. He has two very thick eye brows.

As Mega Beaks, he over-consumed the serum of experiential that will increased his muscles into large monstrously muscular.

Abilities[]

  • Genius-level intellect: Mark is a technological genius, easily designing and building many things such as cars and robots. With his genius, he founded the company Waddle and made a fortune off of his inventions. He's also a very good hacker, as in "The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandre Dee!", where he also casually dances between multiple lasers firing at him after hacking the system. As seen in "Who is Gizmoduck?!" he is a brilliant inventor in his own right; he spent days cooped up alone in his office, creating a device that would allow him to hack and take control of the Gizmoduck armor.
  • Manipulation: Mark uses his social media to sway his followers, admirers, and potential customers to give him money while making false promises and using specific words, circumstances, and other means to get away with conning people.

Former Powers[]

  • Artificially Enhanced Physiology: His intelligence, strength, speed, senses, durability, agility, stamina, reflexes, and healing were enhanced by the nanites in his body. Gandra developed nantie serums that were meant to give him powers, but since they're networked to an implant derived from Gizmoduck tech, he needed the activation phrase from Fenton himself to activate them. In his boredom waiting to get the phrase, he drank multiple vials and ended up gigantic when the subsequent megadose was finally activated. However, he couldn't control it, and after Gandra charges the Fentonium ball and Fenton knocks into the insides of Beaks, the shock shorts out the nanotech and changes Beaks back to his weakened self.
    • Superhuman Strength: In his Mega-Beaks form his strength, has been enhanced to superhuman levels, letting him lift objects of large size and weight.
    • Superhuman Durability: His durability is also immense, letting him take quite a beating, without getting physically injured.
    • Superhuman Speed: His Speed is also at a superhuman level, letting him run extremely fast.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: His healing rate is increased, meaning he can recover from injuries extremely quickly.

Physical Appearance[]

Mark Beaks wears a yellow shirt, tan pants, and a gray zip-up hoodie.

When he drunk the multiple serums that has increased his slim body into large but muscular built body that gives himself enhanced strength to defeating horse and Gizmoduck easily.
