Marooned in Mystery Mansion!

Marooned in Mystery Mansion! is a DuckTales 2017 comic book story, and the fourth two-part serial, spanning 20 pages.

Synopsis[]

In the process of digitizing the McDuck Archive, Emily Quackfaster informs Scrooge that there is an entire week of his life for which no records exist. Fearing some unknown adversary may be at work, Scrooge is further baffled when he realizes that, despite his excellent memory, he cannot recall the events of the week on his own. Searching for inspiration, he turns to his collection of snow globes, and comes across one filled with sand that he doesn't remember getting. Finding that it brings to mind the word "saguaro", which has an unusual effect on his mind, Scrooge turns to his friends and family for help.

After failing to get any answers, Scrooge approaches Mrs. Beakley, who after hearing Scrooge uses a secret communicator to contact a stranger who addresses her as Agent 22. She then contacts Scrooge and suggest that they travel to the American Southwest, which he has deduced may be the origin site of his souvenir, together. On the ride, Beakley informs her old friend that she is responsible for the gaps in both his memory and his records. During their time working for S.H.U.S.H., the pair once failed to apprehend the renegade agent Cactus Jack, a defeat that shook Scrooge so badly that Beakley took it upon herself to block his memories of the event.

Scrooge's discovery of this lack is timely, as Cactus Jack has returned to his old trap-filled house and must be stopped. After being held up by a Burning Duck festival, the pair arrive at their old enemy's lair. Fighting their way through several traps, they eventually confront him, only for him to turn an invisibility ray on himself. However, by scattering the contents of Jack's sand globes, the pair are able to catch the villain by spotting his footprints. The adventure over, Scrooge dictates the events to Huey, Dewey, and Louie as triple insurance against Mrs. Beakley attempting to erase his records again.
