McPapa is a minor DuckTales 1987 character, appearing in the episode "Once Upon a Dime".

History

Scrooge's father, affectionately called "McPapa" is featured with his wife in the flasbacks, as Scrooge recalls his childhood. He is shown to be a mild-mannered man who enjoys playing the bagpipes, and lives with his wife and son in a simple cabin, Cottage McDuck.

Scrooge and Huey, Dewey, and Louie visit Cottage McDuck in "The Curse of Castle McDuck", in which Scrooge mentions that his parents were "poor, simple farmers".

Trivia

• "Once Upon a Dime", originally released in 1987, only refers to Scrooge's father as "McPapa". Five years later comics creator Don Rosa established "Fergus McDuck" as the name of Scrooge's dad, for his "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck". The same name was also given to the DuckTales 2017 version of the character.
