Hey Gilgameshkun, I want to thank you for all the great work you've been doing on the wiki. You've quickly become one of the highest ranked people on the wiki based on your activity, and I think it warrants some attention. I would like to offer you the position of Content Moderator, so we can give you more tools so you can do even more for the wiki. You're free to say no, of course, but I think you'd do well in the position, and our former Content Moderator/newly appointed admin StevenL92 agrees.
I'm not sure that would be a good idea. Like my profile says, I'm a casual DuckTales 2017 viewer. (Okay, casual-intensive DuckTales viewer who makes hundreds of GIFs on a whim.) I don't care enough for the old show, or the video games, or most Disney stuff in general. Also, I'm not confident I have the adequate temperament to deal with other people, as I don't always trust my own judgment, nor do I always have the most reliable judgment, and I may inappropriately underreact or overreact without necessary balance. I'm deep on the autism spectrum, you see. If there's a credible user crisis that requires smart, decisive and reliable people skills, I may not be the person to ask.
I am an experienced wiki technician, have been on Wikipedia since 2003, have been highly active at Turtlepedia, and I founded and run the Mutant Ninja Turtles Gaiden Wiki (where there are no other currently active users), so I can conceivably be a DuckTales Wiki tech. But content moderator? I'm not sure I have any business moderating anything anyone else does, nor do I know what is in the best interest of DuckTales. But sometimes I can volunteer some third party opinions, and that doesn't require being a moderator.
I appreciate you explaining your situation to me. Honestly, I wouldn't expect you to moderate anyone else's content; StevenL92 and I are usually pretty good about keeping on top of that sort of thing. The idea was more to give you more tools to use in your own contributions, which as I say have been stellar from everything I can see. As a content moderator you would be able to delete or rename pages or files yourself, for example, as opposed to having to request that StevenL92 or I do it.
If you still don't feel like it would be a good fit for you, I understand.
I might accept the position if my decisions can remain technical, and I can leave policy and policing decisions to others. If random users contact me, I would need to have the freedom to defer to a different mod. I also cannot guarantee I can be here at any given moment, even in a crisis.
That’s really all it is; I figure that as much as you’re contributing to the wiki it makes sense to give you some additional tools. If anyone did contact you about anything it would of course be fine for you to direct them to me or StevenL92. I can understand that; I’m not the most active editor on the wiki, but I check on things fairly regularly so I can keep on top of any issues.
I make GIFs as a matter of personal interest in a series. And I don't...like the 1987 series that much. I saw that series as a preteen when it was new (I'm 38), but it never quite resonated with me the way the 2017 series does. And I have none of the 1987 series video on hand anyway.
