Curse me kilts!

–Scrooge

Scrooge McDuck is the main protagonist in DuckTales 1987. He is a Scottish duck residing in Duckburg, the richest duck in the world, the uncle of Donald Duck and the loving grand-uncle of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. His signature looks include a top hat and a blue frock coat with red accents, complete with pince-nez glasses, spats, and a cane.

History[]

Scrooge is a headstrong, penny pinching old duck who will do whatever it takes to accomplish something he has set his mind to. His ambition and determination to make something of himself led to him becoming the richest duck in the world. He does everything he can to save or earn a penny. He is a true businessman, and a tough negotiator, not willing to settle for less. But even so, his greed does not get in the way of his morals of doing things square.

Scrooge's never-failing appetite for treasures and good business, often put him at odds with his arch-rival, Flintheart Glomgold. Using his intelligence and the extensive knowledge he acquired from adventures in his youth, Scrooge is able to come out on top of things every time.

Scrooge doesn't trust anyone but himself and a very select few people, such as his nephews. He is not one to openly show affection for anyone with very few exceptions. He loves his money not for its dollar value like he lets on to everyone, but for the memories that go along for each individual one. To him, every cent has a different tale to tell of how he earned it. His most treasured possession is his Number One Dime, the very first coin he earned, back when he was still a boy in Glasgow. The sorceress Magica De Spell believes the Dime will give her unlimited power, which has made her one of Scrooge's most dangerous adversaries. Alongside Glomgold and Magica, his biggest foes are the Beagle Boys, who are constantly attempting to rob his Money Bin.

Scrooge and the nephews live at McDuck Manor in Duckburg. McDuck Manor is also the home of Scrooge's butler, Duckworth, his housekeeper/nanny Bentina Beakley and her granddaughter Webby.

Notably, Glittering Goldie, his sweetheart from Klondike, is one of the very few people who can claim to be a match for Scrooge.
