There Is No Place Like a Ghost Town! is a DuckTales 2017 comic book story.

Synopsis[]

Scrooge finds Louie lazing around the pool, having refused an invitation to McDuck Industries due to being "busy". Upon learning that Louie has occupied himself by creating a business selling balloons full of spoiled milk, Scrooge decides to show him some real business. They are soon on the intended future site of "Scrooge McDuck's Desert Oasis Hotel and Entertainment Super-Mall!", which turns out to be an old ghost town, Pluck City. Upon learning that the town's founder, Beauford R. Pluck, was a stagecoach robber who supposedly hid his ill-gotten gains in the town, Scrooge becomes obsessed with uncovering it.

After hours of digging with no results, Louie enters a nearby saloon hoping to find a drink, only to encounter what appears to be a ghost with a cow skull. Fleeing the apparition, he and Scrooge encounter various skeletal enemies, but upon discovering that they are made of papier mache, Louie orders several of his spoiled milk balloons to be dropped on them. The first ghost is then revealed to be Beauford Pluck IV, who has been searching for his great-grandfather's fortune. Louie, inspired by Pluck's skill at special effects, proposes the idea of turning the town into a haunted tourist attraction with Pluck staying on as manager.
